The Social Etiquette Trap

Have you heard the saying, "They lie in a way that makes you feel like you can't not believe them"? Selfish people use this technique a lot.

Let me give a few examples:

  • When you know that in a conversation, six out of every five words they say are lies, but you still can’t end the interaction.
  • When someone blatantly lies to you, but out of politeness, you don’t call them out.
  • When you know your workplace won’t keep its promises, yet you work like a slave without complaining.
  • When your neighbor is a constant source of stress, but because you see them every day, you hold back your objections.
  • When in an argument, the other person uses fallacies to win at all costs, and you don’t slam your fist on their face.

Here, you’re caught in the bug or trap of social etiquette. The only way out is to step out of your comfort zone and pay the price.
